Barbara Guimaraes

Barbara Guimaraes (b.1973) is a Portuguese TV hostess.

Daughter of a sculptor and a schoolteacher, Barbara lived from four months in Sao João da Madeira, the birthplace of her mother, until the family moved to Lisbon, Barbara had eight. She dropped out of International Relations studies in favor of journalism, having premiered on TVI, as a reporter. Then she started with the presentation of cultural magazines like “Primeira Fila” and “7 ponto 15”. After she was hired by SIC Television and gains popularity as entertainer, with “Chuva de Estrelas” and “Furor”. In the same season Barbara was co-author and presenter of “Duetos Imprevistos” alongside Antonio Vitorino de Almeida.


In 2012, she was the cover of GQ magazine in an audacious production. In the interview she said "I am cheeky by nature. My husband loves it and thinks that’s no evil".
 
She is married to Manuel Maria Carrilho, with whom she has two children, Maria Dinis (2004) and Maria Carlota (2010). The couple separated in 2013.
